Mindless Vandals / Thieves Endanger Lives at Canterbury Horse Rescue

On the 24th July, late Saturday evening and the early hours of Sunday morning, vandals struck at Canterbury Horse Rescue. All the residents had been spending the night out grazing the fields. The vandals cut the boundary fence of a neighbouring property to gain access, taking a car across the field into the valley at the bottom. They then cut 2 more boundary fences, breaking fence posts and rails, leaving stock fencing discarded so the horses and ponies could get caught up in it and proceeded to cut all the electrical tape, opening up the largest paddock gate so they could drive through and enter neighbouring premises to take his property.

All told 9 horses and ponies could have got out onto the A251 and caused chaos. The horses and motorists could have been seriously injured or killed!! All because thieves wanted to make a quick buck, and because they do not want to be seen they will continue to use this method, they are not interested that they are causing criminal damage or the cost to the Charity to repair the damage they have wilfully done.

It is a sickening thought but it is fact.

After quickly catching all the loose horses and ponies, an assessment of all the damage had to be done, and then the pain staking work of temporarily repairing began.

The charity is appealing to everyone, local stockists of fence posts, top rails, stock fencing to help the charity repair the damage.

If you can donate anything the charity would be extremely grateful
